Since the initiation of her medical career, she has focused on plasma cell disorders, mainly multiple myeloma, has conducted national clinical trials, has published on these topics and has participated in multicenter international clinical studies. Dr Hungria has served during the last 4 years at the International Myeloma Society board with main responsabilities in the membership and awards subcommittees. She has coordinated two IMS Educational Symposium for South American doctors. As a Cofounder and Chair of the International Myeloma Foundation Latin America Scientific Advisory Board, she has contributed to the education of health professionals and patients. Dr Hungria is a member of the board of directors of Brazilian Association of Hematology, Hemotherapy and Cell Therapy, also is a member of the Multiple Myeloma Committee of this association. As a Co-founder and Coordinator of the Brazilian Multiple Myeloma Group (GBRAM) and member of board of director of Latin America Myeloma Network has development guidelines for the treatment of myeloma patients as well as pivotal studies on the incidence and results derived from clinical practice in Latin America, such as the recent paper on Multiple Myeloma treatment patterns and clinical outcomes in the Latin America Haemato Oncology (HOLA) observational study, 2008-2016.
